Wyatt
I've been way too busy to have a life outside of work, which means I've been pretty hard up. That's why, when the hotel puts me and a stranger in a room with one bed by mistake, I end up doing something stupid. The moment our bare skin meets, I know he's my mate, and I can't stop myself.
But he's a man, a human, and that makes him completely off-limits. That's why I had to leave without a word. Werewolves and humans don't mix. I can never see him again. So imagine my surprise when he shows up at my office a month later.
Tanner
It was just supposed to be a business conference, not a one-night stand with a stranger. But now I have to work with him, and I can't turn down this job. I want to hate him for sneaking out, but I can't. How can I resist those deep blue eyes, the ginger beard I love, and all those... muscles...
We shouldn't be doing this. He's straight, and I'm tired of having my heart broken. This isn't a hallmark movie, and it won't work. But I can't resist the strange bond between us as he turns my world upside down.
Maybe we can make it work.
WARNING: This spicy wolf shifter romance contains jaw-dropping twists, sizzling love scenes, bi awakening, there's only one bed, gay for you, and a happily ever after that will leave you speechless. It should only be read by those who like their 'straight' werewolves hot and their boyfriends even hotter.
Being forced to share a single bed with a total stranger at a business conference was not on my list of things to do. Neither was sleeping with him that night. But when I leave the next morning, I know I'll never see him again. At least until he gets hired by my father six weeks later and is now my new business partner.
Chapter One Look Inside
Chapter One Look Inside
Chapter One: Wyatt
A real estate conference was honestly the last thing I wanted to go to, but it wasn’t like I could turn it down. My father sure as hell wasn’t going to go. That would interrupt his golfing schedule.
To say I was feeling a bit salty about the whole situation was an understatement. Not only that, but I’d been forced to take along a newbie on top of it. One of my father’s friends from Illinois was sending his son over to join me at the conference. Apparently, he wanted to get into some aspect of real estate that I was too busy to pay attention to. It was probably tech or something. That’s what everyone did who was my age at these things. I’d spend the entire day in meetings and presentations, easily being the youngest person there by forty years. As for the other guy, I hadn’t seen him yet.
After a long day of listening to old businessmen talk about the ‘good old days,’ I wandered back to the hotel and checked in. I’d been invited out to the catered dinner, but the last thing I wanted was to socialize even more. No, I’d just order room service or something and get some sleep. The conference only had a few hours left the next morning before I could hop a plane back home. Maybe if I was lucky, I wouldn’t have to even meet this new guy. If he was anything like his father or mine, we probably wouldn’t get along.
Either way, it didn’t matter. It was just for one night. After that, I’d be back at my apartment in my own bed. I just wish the one night I had to stay out wasn’t on the full moon. Being a werewolf brought enough challenges without having to attempt to blend in during the most invigorating night of the month. The full moon meant running through the woods on pack land, having a rather rare steak, and letting it all hang out, which was something I almost never got to do. But now, thanks to my father, I was stuck in Chicago at a four-star hotel with a bunch of humans.
No, it was probably better that I was spending the night alone in the hotel room. At least I’d be able to shift and relax a little. I actually had a crazy idea to see if my wolf form would fit in the jacuzzi tub. Why not, right?
Needless to say, I was a bit surprised when I keyed into my room and found a human man standing there, his suitcase open on the single queen-sized bed.
“Uh…” I began, glancing back at the room number. “Are… Are you in the wrong room, or am I?”
“I… don’t know,” he replied. He was doing his best to be kind, but I could tell he was annoyed by my intrusion. “The keycard let me in.”
“Mine did, too,” I sighed. “I guess the hotel messed up. I’ll go back down and get a new one. Sorry about that.”
“No problem.” He waved me off, going back to unpacking his clothes.
Who unpacks clothes at a hotel? It’s weird unless you’re going to be there for like a month. That was my first thought as the door closed behind me. My second thought was that that man smelled damn good. I leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath. It was vanilla all the way through. Not that cheap stuff in candles or soap, but real vanilla like the kind used in high-end restaurants. It was sweet, sophisticated, and rich. For a moment, I thought it must be a cologne of some sort, but there was no hint of chemicals to it whatsoever. The scent seemed to soak into my pores, overwhelming my senses. It reminded me of an old girlfriend I used to have who practically lived at a bath and body store. I suddenly wanted a cupcake, and my dick sucked.
“Alright,” I muttered to myself as I headed back to the elevator. I reached down and shifted my half-hard cock to the side. “Calm down.”
It felt a little weird that I was getting riled up about his scent, but I blamed it on the sudden wave of spicy memories about my ex and the full moon. All of my senses were heightened, and that also meant I was horny as hell. Unfortunately, there were almost no women at the conference, and I wasn’t into guys. Being gay was cool or whatever, but it just wasn’t for me. Pussy was too good and too easy to get as a wolf to even want anything else.
By the time I’d made it down to the lobby, most of my boner had faded. Stepping up to the concierge desk, I placed my keycard on the desk and rang the little metal bell.
“Can I help you, sir?” a young woman asked as she stepped up behind the desk.
She was fairly attractive. Putting on my best smolder, I leaned one elbow on the desk, trying to look as cool as possible.
“Sorry to bother you, but I think I got the wrong keycard,” I replied, making sure to make direct eye contact. Human women loved that kind of thing. “I keyed into my room, and there was already someone in there.”
“So sorry about that, sir,” she replied, giving me a customer service smile. “What’s your name and I’ll get this sorted out.”
“Wyatt Trombley.”
She clicked away on her keyboard. “Ah! Here you are, Mr. Tombley.”
“You can just call me Wyatt.”
Another customer service smile. She wasn’t buying it.
“Well, Mr. Tombley, it looks like you’re in room 307.”
“That can’t be right,” I replied, giving up the flirty façade. “That’s the one I went to.”
“It looks like you booked a single queen room with the jacuzzi tub, yes?”
“Yeah, but by myself.”
“I show that the booking was for a single adult until two days ago. It looks like a Mr. Trombley called in to add another person.”
“Fuck,” I hissed under my breath.
That was when my father told me about the other guy joining me at the conference. He’d called the fucking hotel and pretended to be me to get the booking adjusted. That cheap bastard not only made me pay for my own room at a conference he forced me to go to but also got me to pay for his friend's son, too.
“Well, I guess I need to get another room then,” I replied with a sigh.
“I’m sorry, sir, we’re fully booked this weekend due to the conference.”
“I’ll take anything. I don’t care what it is.”
She glanced down at the computer and clicked a few times. “I apologize. There’s nothing. There are several conferences going on this weekend. Everything downtown is booked. There are several hotels on the outskirts of town if you want to try those, but they are usually the first to go with events like this.”
My heart sank as I realized she was right. The airport, the cabs, and the trains had all been swamped for the weekend, thanks to the multiple conferences going on. February was a big time to get all the realtors together as they prepped for the wave of summer sales to come. Not to mention, I was fairly certain there was also a furry convention in town. I’d spotted a few of their suits as I crossed town. That meant that the entire city would be booked up, and I didn’t fancy a two-hour drive to get back to the conference the next morning. I made plenty of money, but that didn’t mean I wanted to spend it all on cab fare.
I reached out, taking the keycard back. “Alright,” I sighed. “I’ll figure it out, I guess.”
“My apologies, sir.”
“No problem,” I lied as I stepped away.
Well, I’d learned my lesson. The next time I made any bookings, I was going to either not tell my father about them or require that all changes be verified with personal information so he couldn’t change things.
